Perfectionism: a Dynamic-Relational Approach to Conceptualization, Assessment and Treatment

Mon, January 05, 2026 8:00 AM | Anonymous

Join Dr. Paul Hewitt and Dr. Sam Mikail for these full-day online workshops on Zoom, training for Dynamic Relational Therapy for Perfectionism. Participants will receive a DRT Certificate and are eligible to receive CPA Continuing Education (CE) credits upon completion of each workshop.

Dynamic-Relational Therapy (DRT) is an evidence-based, psychodynamic approach that focuses on how perfectionism and relational patterns develop, how they are maintained through interpersonal cycles, and how therapeutic relationships can be used to promote meaningful change. In these two-level training series, participants will first learn the foundations of DRT, including the Comprehensive Model of Perfectionism, the Social Disconnection Model, Cyclical Relational Patterns, and the use of the Triangle of Object Relations and Triangle of Adaptation to understand clients’ interpersonal dynamics. The advanced level then focuses on applying DRT in individual and group therapy, refining case conceptualizations, strengthening therapeutic relationships, working with transference and countertransference, repairing alliance ruptures, and monitoring treatment progress to guide effective intervention.
